GLS, one of Europe’s leading courier and parcel delivery companies, needed a modern and efficient infrastructure for its new headquarters in the Iberian Peninsula, located in the Corredor del Henares. The project, led by Körber, required a mezzanine solution tailored to a high-capacity cross-docking environment, with strict sustainability and operational efficiency requirements.
To meet this need, we developed an 11,835 m² mezzanine spread across more than 20 levels, optimizing space to process over one million shipments daily. The structure, which consists of more than 600 tons of steel, was designed with a focus on safety, strength, and flexibility, ensuring compliance with regulations through R30 protected zones.
The facility integrates seamlessly into a 33,227 m² warehouse designed for cross-docking, featuring over 340 loading stations that optimize urban distribution logistics. Its proximity to the city center (just 17 km away) reduces delivery times, operational costs, and the carbon footprint, aligning with the BREEAM Very Good certification for sustainability.
Thanks to this solution, GLS now has a modern, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure capable of handling large volumes of shipments with agility and precision. Our collaboration with Körber demonstrates our ability to develop high-performance logistics structures tailored to the industry’s needs.
